What are my thoughts having two identities?

In my opinion having two identities is actually really bad. Because we have to 'BE OURSELVES'. People have two identities because they want to fit in. This will make them change in a way because they got influenced by the social networking. What if that someone they intend to be turns out to have a bad image? For example, taking drugs, having excessive tattoos etc. They will eventually follow them and it wil affect their image.

Script

Our stand: Due to influence, everyone has two identities unknowingly.

As teenagers like us, we feel that the new generation has been influenced through media such as Facebook and other social networking sites. Due to this situation, we have found out that youths subconsciously portray different identities of themselves virtually and physically. 

Virtually, the new generation subconsciously creates an opposite identity or an identity of what they want to be, online. They show themselves as someone they intend to be but in real life their real identity is usually opposite. This is because they are not confident in showing their true self to the public for they feel that they are not good enough. 

An example would be some people in Facebook where they tend to have two identities, one in the virtual world, and the other in the real world. Facebook has influenced them to be two different people somehow. This, in fact, has changed who they really are. 

Physically, Trend. What’s with the fashion trends these days. People nowadays prefer to follow the recent trend than being comfortable in their own skin and being themselves. 

OR Plastic surgery. Since one is not satisfied with how they look, they tend to go for plastic surgery. With this, they will be able to achieve their desired look. In this way, they are influence by the celebrity’s look; In a bad way. 

Rather than making a negative impact to others, Keanu Reeve the main actor for Matrix, made a great impact to the world, by staying humble. Just like his saying “You don’t have to be happy to continue living, for you can be sad and still continue on with life.” 



‘MIME’

Our group has decided to use a mime as a live example. We feel that mime has two identities – one is real and the other is fake. The job of the mime is to portray others to a certain extent. 

Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves is actually a good example for double identity. He is actually the main actor of matrix. Even though he do not have a good family background he still do not give up. Basically, someone saw him in public and he was actually living like a normal person's life(for example: taking subways,dress normally) when he is actually an actor. He also earns a lot of money from his career. But why does he act normally and not act like other actors. With big cars and drivers driving them around town? So this stranger ask him why did he choose to lead a normal life instead of a rich life when he can be one? His answer was:"Why must i act rich? when i can lead a normal life and be happy.Being happy is the key to continue living. Money can't buy happiness".

His story make me realize to stay humble and don't boast around.

Mime

Why mime?

From my previous post i said that people have double identity because of influence. One of the example is mime. They actually use gesture and movement without words in the acting. But this is not their REAL self. Behind the screen, they are normal people like us. Thus, they have DOUBLE IDENTITY. 

Trends and Plastic surgery

What does trend got to do with identity?
The new generation actually follow trends such as the clothing. Because of trend, teenagers nowadays follow it even though they are not comfortable doing it. This is because they want to fit in.

Same goes for plastic surgery. People go through them because they want to get their desired look. Therefore, they are influenced by the celebrity's look.

So their identity is actually not their own self but actually the people they want to be or someone who they got influenced by.

What identity means to me now?

After doing so much research. Identity to me now is influences. Because of influences people will have two identities. They have these two identities due to media such as facebook and other social networking sites. So virtually, the new generation actually creates an opposite f what they want to be, online. Facebook has influenced them to be two different people somehow. Thus, this has changed who they are.

Reality and Virtual Reality.

Difference between "reality" and "Virtual reality".

Virtual reality is a simulated reality, something that looks like reality but isn't it is "virtually" reality. Virtually means something is like something else, but not exactly the other thing.

As real as your life

Basically, Michael Highland is addicted to video games. He said that "i had life alternate experiences in virtual space and video games became my virtual understanding of what is real and not".

However, i think his addiction make him lose grip in reality and make him crave more. This is actually really bad and scary.

But throughout his video, he actually change my perspective of his addiction. Reality isn't what we see here in touch but the emotions and feeling. Without this effect, we are unable to function. For example: Video games let us part of the machine

"This video games is not about the graphics,joystick and sound, however, it is beginning to make the emotion"

 This level of emotional involvement could be considered unhealthy, but given the banality of everyday life, a surrogate existence is a logical choice.

His addiction can apply the virtual world to real.

This addiction leads to the point of brainwashing. Brainwashing helps us respect each other or help understand the problem in real world.

Addiction enable us live a life at a faster pace.

IDENTITY

What identity actually means?


 1)the fact of being who or what a person or thing is.
 2) a close similarity or affinity.
